have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain - and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.

解說：這是佛羅斯特一首談夜的十四行詩。其中所謂dropped my eyes，乃指作者不願給守衛查問，因作者深夜仍在遊蕩。call me back 和 say good-bye 指的是那一聲叫喊。那座奇怪的發亮大鐘luminary clock 應是月亮的比喻。此詩用韻巧妙，為翻譯添來不少麻煩。
